HVOF Spray

HVOF stands for high velocity oxy-fuel and is the most requested thermal spray solution at ACPL Coatings. Frequently used to machine part repair or overhaul, it offers durable and long-lasting surface coatings. HVOF is applied robotically as thin as three hundredths of an inch. It can easily achieve OEM (original equipment manufacturer) dimensions or tight tolerance requirements. HVOF offers harder coating materials, such as tungsten carbide, and can spray many different metal-based materials.

HVOF spray is the combustion of either, hydrogen and oxygen or kerosene and oxygen, to produce a high velocity spray jet. Coating material is injected into the spray jet via argon gas and applied to the component surface. The HVOF spray jet performs at such a high velocity that it produces diamond shockwaves. These shockwaves provide a built-in quality check during the spray process.
